BIG BROTHER Simulator

Big Brother Simulator is a cross-platform multiplayer experience created on the ROBLOX platform. The game features a series of playable minigames to win for house champion and relies on player roplayability making diverse gameplay.

This project was originally a QUT university project with other student teams creating different MVP products for Banijay internationally collaborating with Breda Media Students. This project was later chosen to be funded where production commenced in October 2024 for Development and Launched in Dec 2024 already reaching up over 100k+ plays.

Our goal for the project was to create a fun multiplayer experience putting a twist on existing Big Brother challenges. By bringing players to different game sets outside the player house and expanding the horizons that the Big Brother reality shows couldn’t achieve made for an interesting experience.

Big Brother VR was showcased and featured at both 2024 QUT Open Day & QUT’s 2024 Immersive Game Festival.

Approved for Funding by Banijay Benelux commencing further Phase 1 of development October onwards

Environment Design

Designing a map design intuitive to a Big Brother set was an interesting challenge, I compiled a range of set images and went from there to design Big Brother VR’s lobby and main map suitable for VR, PC, Mobile & Console users. I wanted each player to feel as if they were transported to a realistic set season of Big Brother.

Utilising a bright colour palette and realistic texturing I spent majority of my time creating the Big Brother House and Lobby trying to match ROBLOX’s style of maps.

I was tasked in pre-production to create the Game Design Document which features the gameplay loop, game goals and objectives, rewards and penalties, game loop, progression and storyboards and game mechanics. I designed simple arcadic minigames that would be great for VR gameplay and easy to implement in a short period.

For this project, I made sure our team was on track with their tasks by creating a project sprint sheet and backlog. I ensured our team had weekly scrum meetings and assisted in helping team members who were behind in development. I also helped pitch our ideas to the the Banijay Producers and kept in contact with Breda University students minigating any issues and compromising for client needs.

I would also organise weekly playtests with lobbies up to 10-15 people each playtest to ensure we squashed any bugs that popped up.
